about

This album is the follow-up to our 2000 release “Pieces of a Broken Day,” mostly recorded in 2000, and now finally finished and released 18 years and 3 records later!

There was no concept behind the album, just the songs we were writing, but there still seems to be a theme of a thin line between hope and desperation, between possibility and despair.

We had written these songs over a number of months and had shared demo recordings with one another across the country, even working out many of the parts by building on each other’s demos. On Memorial Day weekend in 2000, Rob came up from Houston and Matt came down from northeast Indiana to gather at Jeff’s apartment in Memphis, where we did the bulk of the recording on Rob’s portable studio, and added to a lot of work he had already done on his songs.

Because of a particular opportunity, we shifted gears into the songs that became "Heartmap" before we finished the "Secrets" project.

Then some of these songs were part of the initial inspiration for the "Living Faith" concept, to blur the line between "sacred" and "secular" and instead look at the whole of life.

But these songs ended up getting pulled out of that project because in the end they just belonged together as their own album, the way that they started.

So after "Living Faith" was finally wrapped up, the "Secrets" project came back on the table, and we are so happy it's done, and really excited with the result. We hope you like it as much as we do!
